Deduction: A Reichenbach Fall Tribute

“One day we’ll be standing around a body and Sherlock Holmes will be the one that put it there.”

Music featured:
Dead Can Dance - Ullyses
Zack Hemsey - Mind Heist (variations)

Last episode of BBC’s Sherlock airs tonight in America on PBS!
I celebrated the finale by making this terribly depressing video when I first saw “Reichenbach,” because that’s just how I roll.

Death and Taxes by A.L. Cook

Haven’t shared these on tumblr, have I?
Here.  Have some depressing old art.

In my dream there is a torrent.

Walking home, talking with you, and we look at the sky.  Hadn’t it been blue a moment ago?  Look at that, I say.  Look at that cloud.  It looks like an explosion.  It looks like the apocalypse.  The sky is falling.

I rush home alone, but you follow close behind.  You worry.  Somehow the house is full of sunlight; every wall glaring and white, the pale floors shining.  There is not a single right angle in this place, is there?   Even the peak where the skylight looms is like a rhomboid temple, rising up in triangles, leaning sideways and skyward.  No furniture in this place, only walls and floors and ceilings and voids that face up like open palms.  The windows are banging back and forth, every joist creaking under the strain of howling wind.  Black water rushes in.  Wave after wave after wave.

The skylight has caved in.  The ceiling is a waterfall.  The flood rushes down down down and smashes through the floor, beyond the floor, leaving cracked boards and splintered seams, waterfalling ceaselessly into a shadowy pit.

The rest of the house looks good, I say.  The sun is still shining in here.  Nothing to worry about.

But that water keeps rushing and rushing and rushing.  You can barely hear me over the roar.  Smiling and avoiding you, I stand there looking at the ceiling, appraising the damage as if I can fix it with glue, while you hold your chin in your hand and stare silently at the floor.

46. Water Marbles - SOUNDsculptures (ASMR) (by SOUNDsculptures)

This is a stellar ASMR video by the always top-notch SOUNDsculptures channel.  Though I admit I’m partial to these water marble doodads because of a crazy art project I did several years ago involving a basketball display case, water crystals, and a lot of epoxy. They are incredibly fun to play with.   Did I stick my entire forearm in that case?  Yep.  I think they may have even featured these on an episode of Q.I.

It’s easy to forget that not every interaction between Cora and Andromalius is drenched with angst, death and horrible horrible misfortune.  Only the vast majority of their interactions.  So here’s something lighter.  I think this may be the first time I’ve ever drawn him smiling.  Ever.
The really scary thing is I didn’t use a single reference for this, and look who he resembles exactly.  AGAIN.

Today is NOT my day for sketching; everything I tried was an uphill battle and this is the only salvageable thing but it’s still meh but I promised Lily I’d post something cute and now I’m crabby but I hope you enjoy this Martin Freeman doodle even if I can’t.
